ADELE ANNOUNCES ‘BIG BREAK’ FROM MUSIC IN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
By Clara Günthner
The London-born singer spoke to German broadcaster ZDF in a rare exclusive interview announcing she wants a “big break” from music after her shows in Las Vegas and Munich.
She said: “My tank is quite empty at the minute from being on stage every weekend in Las Vegas.”
Although she said she would never give up singing and songwriting, when asked about plans for new music, she replied: “No. No new music at all.
“I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while.”
The sixteen-times Grammy and twelve-time Brit Award winner has been performing exclusively in Las Vegas for her 2024 Weekends With Adele, which will end on 23 November 2024.
Before the final show in Caesars Palace, the superstar will be playing shows in Munich throughout August, where an open-air stage is being custom-built for the event.
Adele’s Munich concerts will feature an “enormous” 220-metre-wide and 30-metre-high LED screen, the largest ever used for a stage show.
She told ZDF: “The screen is enormous, and the amount of cameras there will make 80,000 people feel like it’s just me and one of them.”
In a recent Instagram post, Adele shared photos of the bespoke arena and wrote: “It’s all a bit bloody exciting.”
The singer said she is looking forward to the “quieter” European crowd and reflected on her life before fame when she was just “a random girl in London”.
“I don’t like being famous,” the pop star confessed and said: “I miss everything about before I was famous, I think probably being anonymous the most.”
But she added: “I love that I get to make music all the time whenever I want and people are receptive to it and like it … that’s pretty unimaginable and highly unlikely that that happens to people.”
Adele is currently on break from her Las Vegas concert residency and will play ten shows in Munich this August before concluding Weekends With Adele with ten more shows in Las Vegas.
