EDITORIAL OBSESSIONS

By Phoebe Ann Brooks

Editorial Obsessions is a weekly round-up showcasing our team’s latest obsessions – from our favourite late-night snacks to the most binge-worthy shows to life-changing beauty products.

The Beaches

Named after the neighbourhood they grew up in, The Beaches is made up of lead vocalist/bassist Jordan Miller, guitarist Kylie Miller, keyboards/guitarist Leandra Earl, and drummer Eliza Enman-McDaniel.

Their viral hit Blame My Ex and debut album of the same name hit hard with sharp lyrics that journey through the trials and triumphs of girlhood. The sound is a perfect marriage of feminist angst and pop-grunge. A superb summer soundtrack…especially for the single and heartbroken girlies.

THE BABES REPRESENTING BRITAIN

Thanks to Bridgerton, Brat, House of the Dragon, and so much more, British talent is having a global renaissance and our babes are leading the charge.

Nicola Coughlan, Emma D’arcy, Charlie XCX, and Hannah Waddingham are the ones to watch as they lead tv, film, and music industries.

Here’s to a Brat girl summer!

ARE-THEY-AREN’T-THEY CELEBRITY COUPLES

We are obsessed with are-they-aren’t-they couples making the rounds on movie premier red carpets and press tours…it’s the new era will-they-won’t they and we cannot get enough.

Ever since that red-carpet-arm-kiss between Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain in 2021, it’s safe to say audiences have been more than a little *ahem* obsessed with shipping our favourite celebrities. Internet girlies have been wearing their detective hats ever since, magnifying glasses at the ready, inspecting every detail. While it can get out of hand on occasion, who doesn’t love a little are-they-aren’t they? First, it was Isaac and Chastain, then we had Glenn Powell and Sydney Sweeney, then #Polin (Nicole Coughlan and Luke Newton) sent the entire internet feral, and now Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn are looking a little cosy as the chemistry is chemistrying as they promote their new film The Quiet Place: Day One. We know these celebs are just really good at their jobs and their private life is none of our business … but we cannot help but enjoy the tea while it’s hot.

WIMBLEDON

Football who? Wimbledon is here and who doesn’t love a sport that goes hand in hand with Pimms, the season's hottest tennis core fashion, and of course… tennis!

This competition will mark the first year since 1996 without the Williams sisters in a women’s singles draw. In their time, they successfully managed to win a combined twelve titles and break numerous records.

You can watch Wimbledon on BBC One and Two and stream the competition on BBC iPlayer.
